Brew-Off in 1993; and the Best of category in the AHA National Homebrew Competition in 1994.


Flamming Scrotum - ENGLISH STRONG ALE

16.5 lb Domestic 2 Row (Breiss)
2.5 lb Munich Malt (De Wolf & Cosyns)
1.5 lb Crystal Malt (Muton & Fison)
.5 lb Aromatic Malt (De Wolf & Cosyns)
1.0 lb German Wheat (Ireks)

Mashed in with 24 quarts water at 172F with 1.5 teaspoon gypsum to yield
154F. Mashed for 90 minutes to yield 150F. Raised to 168F with boiling
water. Settle for 20 minutes. Sparged with 28 quarts water with 1 teaspoon
gypsum to yield 11.75 gallons. 2 hour boil to yield ~7.75 gallons.

2.0 oz Kent Goldings 5% AAU for 60 minutes.
0.6 oz Galena 13% AAU for 60 minutes.
1.0 oz Kent Goldings for 30 minutes.
1.0 oz Fuggles for 15 minutes.
1.0 oz Cascade for 5 minutes.
1.5 tsp Irish Moss for 20 minutes.

Forced cool.
Pitched 500ml Mass Bay Brewing Co (Harpoon) Ale yeast starter.
OG 1.076.
FG 1.025.
