Grain Bill:

6.6 lbs Muntons amber syrup
3 lbs Muntons light DME
1.0 lb crystal malt

Hop Bill:

2 oz cascade 15 and 30 min
1 oz chinook 60 min

Mash Schedule:

Steeped crystal for 1/2 hr at 165 deg (f) in 2 gal water . Removed crystal , brought up to 2.5 gal with boiling water , added amber and light malt . . Brought to boil , added 1 oz cascade at 15 min , then added 1 oz cascade at 30 min . Added 1 oz chinook at 60 min and turned heat off . Let sit covered for ten min , then cooled to 72 deg in 5 min using wort chiller . Added to 2.5 gal 74 deg poland spring water .

7 days primary ( better use a blowoff , roars )
2 weeks secondary
bottle age min 2 weeks

This IPA definatly has a kick . For a more standard IPA just remove the light malt , will put you in the range of 4-5 abv.
